On 30 April 2026, led by Associate Professor Tiffany Leung of the Faculty of Business, 20 students from the IBC Programme visited MGM MACAU, the iconic property of MGM China Holdings Limited, for an academic exchange. Focusing on Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) strategy and business ethics, the event combined thematic sharing, on-site observation, and interactive discussion, allowing students to understand through real-world cases how tourism and leisure enterprises translate sustainability concepts into measurable and actionable business practices.
At the beginning of the event, Ms. Ruby O, Assistant Vice President of Sustainability and Business Synergy of MGM MACAU, warmly welcomed our faculty students and shared MGM's sustainability strategies from a global perspective as well as its local practices. The content covered core areas such as green building and energy innovation, resource recycling and food waste management, and employee and customer empowerment. She emphasised that MGM has always integrated environmental protection and social responsibility into its core corporate strategy and is actively driving the industry's green transformation. During the subsequent Q&A session, students actively raised questions on topics such as the implementation of sustainability mechanisms and the balance between customer experience and cost-effectiveness, demonstrating their in-depth thinking on industry transformation.
After the seminar, Ms. Ruby O and Mr. Carlos Chan, Assistant Manager of Sustainability, led the faculty and students on a tour of the hotel's green facilities. Through on-site explanations, students gained a practical understanding of how measures such as natural resource utilisation systems and green building technologies are implemented in daily operations. Following the observation, they engaged in group discussions, further deepening their understanding of the connection between ESG and business ethics.
This event not only served as an extracurricular extension but also provided future business leaders with valuable practical perspectives, inspiring them to integrate sustainable development into business innovation throughout their careers and become a new generation of leaders equipped with both professional competence and social responsibility.
