On April 16, representatives from Deakin University (Australia) visited the Faculty of Business at the City University of Macau (CityU Macau). The two sides held in-depth discussions on deepening educational cooperation, joint student training, and cross-border academic exchanges, with a particular focus on a proposed “2+2” undergraduate joint degree program. Under the plan, students from CityU Macau’s Faculty of Business may, after completing their first two years of study, continue the remaining two years at Deakin University, upon graduation receiving degrees from both institutions. The program will cover several popular business disciplines, including Finance, Marketing, and Entrepreneurship and Innovation, with the aim of cultivating versatile talents who possess international perspectives and cross-cultural competence.

Deakin University’s Business School is ranked among the top business schools in Australia, excelling particularly in Sports Management, Business Analytics, and postgraduate teaching quality. The proposed collaboration with CityU Macau’s Faculty of Business will offer students a unique learning pathway: “building a foundation in Macau and broadening horizons in Australia.”

During the meeting, Deakin University representatives highlighted their leading Work Integrated Learning (WIL) model. All Deakin courses integrate real-world industry practice opportunities, allowing students to participate in international internships, consulting projects, on-campus startup incubators, and other activities, for which they may earn academic credit. In addition, Deakin University houses the award-winning DeakinTALENT career service center, which provides students with lifelong career support. Both sides indicated that they would explore introducing Deakin’s career development resources to CityU Macau, helping students achieve the goals of “successful graduation and successful employment.”

This visit not only deepened mutual trust and understanding between the two universities but also laid a solid foundation for future cooperation in areas such as faculty and student exchanges, joint research, and short-term study tours. CityU Macau’s Faculty of Business will actively bridge educational innovation between the Asia-Pacific region and Australia, continuing its internationalization philosophy rooted in the vision of “Based in Macau, Serving the Bay Area, and Facing the World.”
