On 15th March 2016, the Faculty of Business (FOB) of City University of Macau (CityU) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA). The MoU was signed by Dr. Eva Khong, Executive Associate Dean of FOB; and Ms. Erica Chen, Marketing Director of CIMA Hong Kong. The signing of the MoU was witnessed by Professor Shu Guang Zhang, Rector of CityU; and Ms. Yeman Tsang, Business Development and Marketing Manager of CIMA Hong Kong.
Rector Shu Guang Zhang remarked that it was a great honour for CityU with its recent vast development to become the first University in Macau to be granted exemption in CIMA exams for the postgraduate program. Rector Zhang expected City U to have further cooperation with CIMA in the near future. For example, the Gateway could be expended to FOB’s Doctoral Programs as well as the Intel Business Cohort, and the Faculty could invite CIMA elite members to give a speech in City U. Director Erica Chen described the cooperation between the two parties as the integration of the academic and professional circles.
CIMA is the world’s largest and leading professional body of management accountants. It has more than 229,000 members and students in 176 countries. CIMA provides professional examinations and other frameworks of assessments for individuals seeking a professional qualification in the Management Accountancy profession.
After signing the MoU, students from the Master of Business Administration (MBA) Program of FOB will be eligible to the CIMA Master Gateway fast track route and are exempted from 12 CIMA exams.
