On 19th March, 2016, a tea reception for the alumnus of Faculty of Business (“FOB”) was held in Luso-Chinese Building on the Open Day in celebration of the 35th anniversary of City University of Macau (“CityU”). FOB was honored to have Professor Shu Guang Zhang, Rector of City University of Macau and Professor Kong Fanqing, Vice Rector of City University of Macau joined the gathering with the alumnus present.
Rector Zhang warmly welcomed everyone and reviewed CityU's development since establishment. A special note was made in reference to Mr. Chan Meng Kam, Chairman of the Council of City University of Macau, who has been proactively implementing the strategies of “Rename, Restructure, Transform and Upgrade” for CityU since his involvement in the management of the University. Rector Zhang pointed out that CityU has successfully completed the phase of “Rename” and “Restructure” before entering the current stage of accelerated development. For the subsequent phases of “Transform” and “Upgrade”, it was reckoned that CityU still has a long way to go.
Hence, it was relatively important to garner support and assistance from the alumni. Rector Zhang noted that the FOM Alumni was indispensable in providing a wealth of resources to support the development efforts of the University and they were regarded as imperative members of the University family. He stated that the corporation that existed between the University and the alumni was to be longstanding and expecting that all members to keep abreast of the reform and developments of CityU, as contribution generated from them would ensure a thriving development of the University subsequently. Rector Zhang expressed that CityU would be implementing multifaceted communication platforms to better serve the alumni. The Faculty of Business, which communal the longest history of the University, would pave the way by establishing an alumni platform to facilitate future development.
FOB's alumnus was heartened by Rector Zhang's remarks and conveyed their appreciation to the University. They were impressed by the Faculty's achievements in both academic and student management after exploring the Open Day Exhibition and pledging unwavering support to the University's upcoming development efforts.
The tea reception was meticulously prepared and well received, as chic souvenirs and refreshments were made available to the alumnus. Dr. Eva Khong, Executive Associate Dean of FOB was present throughout the tea reception, sharing good memories and brainstorming possible directions that the Faculty could take with regards to its future development. The tea gathering came to a perfect end under a harmonious atmosphere.
