FOB DBA Dissertation Proposal Briefing Session

On 2nd March, 2016, the FOB DBA Dissertation Proposal Briefing Session was held in the Cultural Centre. The Vice Rector of City University of Macau, Professor Kong Fan Qing;  Dr. Eva Khong, Executive Associate Dean of Faculty of Business; Professor Chow Kwok Keung; Representatives from the Graduate Office and Information Technology Office; teaching staff members and DBA students from the Class 2015 of Faculty of Business attended the session. The Dissertation Proposal Briefing Session was hosted by Professor Cai Zhiming, Head of Academic Affairs Office and Graduate Office.

 

The Vice Rector, Professor Kong Fanqing, gave an opening speech in the session. She mentioned that CityU had made great efforts to enhance teaching qualities in the past year, including the introduction of a revised Graduate Regulations. As the administrative rules were being updated concurrently, the DBA degree would become more validated in the future. The Vice Rector, Professor Kong hoped that students should imposed strict demand on themselves in order to present innovative dissertations and becoming pillars of society in the future.

 

Professor Chow clearly explained the dissertation writing framework which included how to present dissertation objectives, dissertation writing format, research methodologies and procedure, dissertation proposal, literature review, and also issues on oral defense, plagiarism and the appropriate format in presenting the dissertation. Professor Chow reminded students to strictly abide to the academic requirements to complete the dissertation writing as soon as possible and to successfully pass the dissertation oral defense.

 

In addition, Professor Cai Zhiming gave a thorough introduction on dissertation oral defense and management procedures and requirements to enable students to clearly aware of the application details. Finally, Supervisor Maxi Ip from the Information Technology Office introduced the dissertation management system to students to ensure effective dissertation management throughout.

 

Students' queries were answered in the Q&A session and they remarked that the Dissertation Briefing Session enable them to be more prepared for the dissertation writing.
