On 8 April 2025, led by Associate Professor Tiffany Leung of the Faculty of Business, 12 students from the Junior IBC Business Ethics Programme of the Faculty of Business went to MGM MACAU, the iconic property of MGM China Holdings Limited, to embark on an in-depth study on the integration of sustainability and business ethics. Focusing on corporate ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) strategy and sustainable development, the event provided students with an opportunity to experience the cutting-edge of sustainable development in the tourism and leisure industry through topic sharing, on-site visits and interactive exchanges.

At the beginning of the event, Ms. Ruby O, Assistant Vice President of Sustainability and Business Synergy of MGM MACAU, warmly welcomed the students and introduced MGM MACAU's global vision and local practices in the field of sustainability. She introduced MGM's global vision and local practices in the field of sustainability, including green building and energy innovation, resource recycling and waste management, and employee and customer empowerment. She emphasised that MGM has always integrated environmental protection and social responsibility into its core corporate strategy, and has actively contributed to the green transformation of the industry. At the end of the seminar, students asked questions on sustainable development mechanisms, how to balance customer experience, cost, sustainability, etc., demonstrating their in-depth thinking on the changes in the industry.

In the site visit session after the seminar, Ms. Ruby O and the Assistant Manager of Sustainability, Mr. Carlos Chan’s team led the students to inspect the green hotel facilities of MGM MACAU. Under their explanation, the students witnessed how the natural resource utilization system and green building technologies work on the ground and observed how natural resources are integrated with the daily operation of the hotel, followed by an in-depth discussion.

This event is not only an extension of the Business Ethics programme, but also strengthens students' understanding of the frontiers of green management, guiding them to integrate the concept of sustainable development into business innovation in their future careers and to become a new generation of business leaders with both professional competence and social commitment.
