On November 21, 2024, lecturer Mona Xu from the Faculty of Business at City University of Macau led Year 3 Financial Management students to visit the Well Link Bank Nape Branch.

Banco Well Link, S.A. (hereinafter referred to as WLB) is a fully licensed commercial bank registered in Macao. Established in 1996, it was formerly a subsidiary of Banco Espírito Santo of Portugal. Upholding the “bridge” spirit, WLB is committed to serving as a bridge to success for clients. It continuously leverages its regional advantages in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao area and its platform advantages in Portuguese-speaking countries to provide comprehensive cross-border financial services to various clients and projects in these regions, supporting national development and achieving mutual benefits with society.

During this visit, we were honored to have Mr. Kit Sang Lo, Executive Director, Executive Vice President, and Chief Financial Officer of Well Link Bank, and Ms. Joana Leong, Director of Branch Hub 1 and President of the Nape Branch, to explain and share insights on the current banking industry and financial market. Mr. Lo, who has over 48 years of extensive banking experience, previously worked at the Bank of China Hong Kong and Nanyang Commercial Bank (China). He is also a senior public accountant, senior financial accountant, senior international accountant, and holds the title of Senior Financial Management Technician (Level 1) issued by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security of China. Ms. Leong, with over 25 years of rich experience in retail and corporate banking, is also an alumna of the Faculty of Business at City University of Macau.

Taking into consideration the students' professional background, Mr. Lo introduced the differences in organization, management, and regulation between Macao banks and mainland banks, and specifically focused on the products and development of the current Macao bond market. Based on Mr. Lo's explanations and their current studies, the students raised questions about the future development of the Macao bond market, the current state of the real estate market, and international economic trends. Mr. Lo patiently answered and shared his views and outlook, greatly benefiting the students. Ms. Leong introduced the main products and services of Well Link Bank, including its unique offerings such as year-round 362-day service and US stock trading services.

The visit was successfully organized. The faculty is very grateful for the support and arrangements made by Mr. Lo and Ms. Leong of Well Link Bank, as well as to the students for their active participation and engagement. We hope that through this visit, the students can gain a better understanding of the financial market, stimulate their interest in learning, and apply what they have learned to provide good guidance for their future academic pursuits and career choices.
