On 24-25 July 2023, the 7th Annual Conference of China Labour Economics Scholars Forum was successfully held at Zijingang Campus of Zhejiang University. Dr. Jing Zhao, Assistant Professor of the Faculty of Business of City University of Macau, was invited to chair the parallel session on "Technological Advancement and Labour Market". Ms. Xiaowen He, first year DBA student of the Faculty of Business of City University of Macau, presented a paper on digitalization and employment in the service sector at the conference, which is co-author with Professor Jing Zhao.
This year's conference was co-organized by the Council of China Labor Economics Scholars' Forum, the School of Economics of Zhejiang University, the Research Center for Livelihood Security and Public Governance of Zhejiang University, and the Institute of Sharing and Development of Zhejiang University, and was supported by China Economics Quarterly, Management World, World Economy, Economic Science, Research on Labor Economics, China Economic Problems, Educational and Economic Review, Economics Letters, China Population and Science, China & World Economy, Economic and Political Studies, and other academic journals.
The conference also invited Professor Joshua Angrist, winner of the 2021 Nobel Prize in Economics, to give a keynote speech on "Escaping the Elite Illusion", explaining the importance of causal identification strategies in economics.
