Rector Jun Liu leads delegation to top universities and Chinese Embassy in UK to promote international cooperation and exchanges in higher education

Professor Jun Liu, the Rector of City University of Macau (CityU), led a delegation to visit the University of Oxford, the University of Cambridge, and the University of Westminster in the United Kingdom with the aim of promoting CityU's internationalization and facilitating the development of a high-quality higher education system with “Macao Characteristics, China Soul, and Global Vision”. The delegation was received by Sir Rick Trainor, the Historian and Rector of Exeter College, University of Oxford; Dr. Daniela Passolt, the Director of International Programmes of Pembroke College; Dr. Nick Godfrey, the Director of Summer Programmes at Girton College, University of Cambridge; and Professor Gerda Wielander at the University of Westminster. The delegation held discussions with the universities on talent cultivation, summer programs, and student exchange, and explored innovative cooperation models.


During the visit, Rector Jun Liu and his delegation also visited the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, where they received a warm reception from Minister Zhao Fei. The two sides held discussions on international education exchange and cooperation, as well as ways to enhance the international perspective of Macao's teachers and students. Minister Zhao spoke highly of the achievements of CityU in recent years and provided an introduction to the history, culture, and development of higher education in the United Kingdom. He expressed the embassy's support for the exchanges between CityU and British universities and its continuous efforts to enhance the internationalization of higher education in Macao.
