Professor Edy Wong, Associate Dean of the International Alberta School of Business at the University of Alberta in Canada, recently led nine MBA students to City University of Macau for a two-day exchange. The University of Alberta, the most comprehensive university in the province of Alberta, with a history dating back more than 100 years, has for many years ranked among the top five universities in Canada.

Prof. Wong and her students were welcomed by Dr. Eva Khong, Associate Dean of the Faculty of Finance, and Professor Sean Li, Academic Registrar of City University of Macau.

On the afternoon of July 31, the University of Alberta exchange team visited the Bank of China Macau Branch. Director Chen Fen of the Bank of China Macau Branch expressed his warm welcome to the delegation and briefed them on the financial situation in Macao. They then visited the Financial Markets Department and the Private Banking Department. At the subsequent exchange forum, the students took the initiative to ask questions. The students said that the visit gave them an innovative understanding of Macau's financial structure and status quo.

On the morning of August 1, Dr. Eva Khong gave a special lecture on “The Greater Bay Area Initiative – Macau Opportunities and Challenges,” analyzing the opportunities and challenges faced by Macao in the construction of the Greater Bay Area. Dr. Khong explained how the cities in the Greater Bay Area complement each other and help to maximize the economic benefits of the Area, focusing particularly on the aspects of tourism and modern service industries. In the final Q&A session, the students asked questions that revealed their strong interest in the economic development plan and prospects of the Area.

On the afternoon of August 1, colleagues from the Global Exchange Office took the University of Alberta Exchange Group to visit the famous landmark Ruins of St Paul's Cathedral, in order to learn more about Macau's history, culture and customs. The students said that they have benefited a lot from the visit, and hope that the teachers and students of the two universities will have more opportunities for exchanges and cooperation. The City University of Macau and the University of Alberta signed a memorandum of cooperation in January 2017, to provide greater opportunities for our teachers and students to take part in exchanges and further deepen the cooperation between the two sides in discipline construction and academic research.
