On 13th April, Dr. Lou Shiyan, Programme Coordinator of the Bachelor of Applied Economics (BAE), and Assistant Professor Dr. Sammy Leung led BAE students on a visit to the Hong Kong Productivity Council (HKPC). During the visit, teachers and students learnt about the various professional techniques and social services of the Council.
Ms. Jomi Wong, Officer of Corporate Communication and Marketing at the HKPC, gave an introduction on the services and techniques it provides. The HKPC offers access to a number of laboratories with high-tech equipment, together with a professionally knowledgeable and experienced working team. It seeks to provide services to local manufacturing and service industries and small-scale enterprises, and assistance in enhancing their productivity, competitiveness, and sustainable development.
Following this introduction, Ms. Wong took FOB teachers and students to visit the gallery, laboratories and 3D Printing Support Centre. They saw models of electric vehicles, intelligent urban technology, and aircraft safe-seats. The students gained an understanding of the production process, product specialties, and the importance of advanced technology application during productivity development.
FOB teachers and students benefited greatly from this visit. The Faculty of Business intends to launch more such visits, to encourage students to learn more about such practices and their social context.
