Global Money Week Seminar Held in City U

“Global Money Week – Seminar”, organized by the Faculty of Business and the Macau Institute of Financial Services, was held at Ho Yin Convention Centre HG03 on 29th March. Present at the seminar were Professor Shu Guang Zhang, Rector of City University of Macau; Dr. Eva Khong, Executive Associate Dean; Mr. António José Félix Pontes, Chairman of the Executive Board of the Macau Institute of Financial Services (IFS); Ms. Chen Fen, the Director of the Banking Business Management Department of the Bank of China (Macau Branch). Other guests, together with over one hundred FOB teachers and students, participated in this event.

Rector Zhang was glad to see the first Global Money Week taking place in Macao. This annual global celebration featuring local and regional events would inspire young people to learn more about financial issues, under the broad theme of “Learn, Save, Earn”. City University was honored to host this seminar. As a token of his appreciation, Rector Zhang presented souvenirs to the three speakers.

Mr. Pontes, Chairman of IFS, Mr. Eric Ho of the Financial Intelligence Office of Macao S.A.R., and Mr. Gregory Leung of the China Construction Bank, each spoke individually, on the topics of topics of “Future Challenges and Opportunities for Insurance”, “Anti-Money Laundering” and “Sound Financial Management”. They used data analysis and case studies in their presentations, which encouraged students to scrutinize the society around them more closely. The students gained greater understanding of trends in local financial development, the related legal system and personal financial management. The seminar ended with an enthusiastic discussion between the guest speakers and students on insurance against terrorism and related topics.
