The Faculty of Business successfully hosted the "GBA × Portuguese-Speaking Africa SME Cooperation Workshop Seminar" on 19 August 2026. The seminar aimed to establish a two-way matching platform between SMEs in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) and Portuguese-speaking African countries, fostering in-depth exchanges in trade, investment, and industrial cooperation. The event attracted participation from African students enrolled in the Faculty, as well as academics and researchers.

The seminar commenced with an opening address by Professor José Alves, Dean of the Faculty of Business. Professor Renato Pereira, Visiting Professor at the Faculty of Business, served as the keynote speaker, delivering a specialized lecture on core topics including two-way market entry strategies for SMEs, cross-cultural management, investment opportunities, and cooperation models. Professor Pereira, who has long conducted research on economic and trade relations between China and Portuguese-speaking countries, provided an in-depth analysis of the economic structures and market characteristics of Portuguese-speaking African countries, offering practical recommendations for GBA SMEs seeking effective entry into these markets.

Looking ahead, the Faculty will continue to leverage its strengths in integrating academic research with practical applications, contributing to the development of Macau as a service platform for commercial and trade cooperation between China and Portuguese-speaking countries, and injecting new momentum into regional economic development.
