Annual Gathering for Alumni, Faculty and Students of the Faculty of Business Successfully Held

On June 29, 2026, the Faculty of Business of City University of Macau held its annual gathering for alumni, faculty and students under the theme “Uphold Scholarship, Empower Business, Forge New Chapter.” Alumni from different cohorts, together with current faculty members and students, gathered to reconnect, renew friendships, discuss the preparatory work for establishing the Alumni Association of the Faculty of Business, and explore new opportunities for industry and research collaboration.


As the event officially commenced, Professor José Alves, Dean of the Faculty of Business of City University of Macau, delivered the opening remarks. He reviewed the Faculty’s achievements over the years and explained the significance of establishing a regular alumni exchange platform for the Faculty’s long-term development. He also invited faculty members and students to contribute to the development of the Alumni Association of the Faculty of Business, calling on alumni to work together to build an alumni network based on resource sharing, mutual support and common progress. Subsequently, the preparatory working group of the Alumni Association reported to the participants on the draft constitution, organizational structure and position recruitment plan of the Association. The group also encouraged dedicated alumni to take part in its operation and jointly build an exchange platform for all alumni of the Faculty of Business of City University of Macau.


The gathering featured a thematic sharing session, during which seven guests delivered presentations and exchanged views on technology finance, artificial intelligence, commercialization of research achievements, international trade and economics, industrial investment, and other related fields. Professor Hui Li, a member of the National Academy of Artificial Intelligence in the United States and Professor Peking University, gave a keynote talk entitled “Sovereign Trusted Networks and Intelligent Security Empowering Macao’s Technology Finance Industry,” in which he analyzed the development path for integrating cybersecurity with Macao’s financial industry. Prof. Dr. Christoph Lattmann of the Constructor University, Germany, engaged in exchanges on the industrial implementation of artificial intelligence technologies and interpreted the core value of technological development in the new era. Ms. Jin Li, Director of the Knowledge Transfer and Transformation Center of City University of Macau, delivered a presentation entitled “University Knowledge Transfer and Transformation,” explaining practical models for bringing university research achievements to the market. Assistant Professor Jing Zhao of the Faculty of Business gave a presentation entitled “How Institutions and Social Networks Jointly Promote Foreign Economic and Trade Cooperation,” analyzing the mechanisms that influence international economic and trade cooperation from a theoretical perspective. Mr. Yingjie Li, DBA doctoral student, Partner of Zhiyuan Robotics, General Manager for the Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Region, and Senior Advisor to the Macau International Science and Technology Industry Center, focused on the embodied intelligence industry and shared the prospects for cooperation between Zhiyuan Robotics and Macao’s technology sector. Mr. Lengyu Yang, DBA doctoral student, Executive President of the Macau Frontier Technology Industry Association, delivered a presentation entitled “From the Classroom of City University of Macau to Macao’s Industrial Frontline: Sharing on the Alumni Development Fund Initiative.” He discussed the significance, platform value and synergistic role of establishing an Alumni Development Fund, proposing that the alumni network be used to connect industries, projects and resources, thereby injecting greater momentum into Macao’s industrial development. Finally, Mr. Fangdi Qiao, DBA doctoral student, introduced the FAO “One Country One Priority Product” initiative and discussed business opportunities for Macao in supporting the internationalization of distinctive agricultural products.


The presentations closely connected theory with industrial practice and offered substantial and insightful content. Participating faculty members, students and alumni expressed that they had benefited greatly from the session. After the thematic sharing session, the event entered a free exchange period, during which participants moved across roundtables and engaged in lively discussions on entrepreneurial project matching, career development, university-enterprise and industry- research cooperation, and the development of the Alumni Association.


This annual gathering for alumni, faculty and students further strengthened the bonds among alumni, faculty members and students, while building a bridge for academic, industrial and capital exchange. Looking ahead, the Faculty of Business of City University of Macau will continue to improve its organizational structure, bring together the strength of alumni, uphold the spirit of grounding business in learning and gathering momentum for new growth, and support alumni in moving forward together to reach new heights in their careers.
