On April 13, 2026, the Business Ethics course was pleased to invite a guest speaker from the Macao Emission Exchange – Ms. June Lei, Director of the Macao International Carbon Emissions Exchange – to campus for a special lecture titled “Global Carbon Markets and an Introduction to Macao Emission Exchange – Carbon Connects the World, Green Paints the Future.” Ms. Lei also serves as an expert at the National Engineering Research Center for Electronic Information Product Standardization and a member of the Expert Committee for Carbon Footprint in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

Invited by the course instructor, the lecture provided an in-depth analysis of the rapidly evolving global carbon markets and their critical role in advancing sustainable development. Ms. Lei first introduced an overview of market-oriented tools for addressing climate change, then outlined the development history of international carbon markets, and detailed the current status and trends of compliance carbon markets and carbon credit markets.

She also presented the mission and key initiatives of the Macao Emission Exchange, highlighting its efforts to enhance carbon trading transparency, support enterprises in achieving their climate goals, and promote environmental accountability in modern business practices. The lecture encouraged students to reflect on how ethical decision-making and environmental responsibility intersect in today’s global carbon economy. The event further demonstrated the Business Ethics course’s ongoing commitment to integrating real-world perspectives into business ethics and sustainability education in higher education.
