On April 7, 2025, Senior Lecturer Seah Wei Wei from the Faculty of Business of the City University of Macau invited representatives from the Commission Against Corruption (CCAC) of the Macao Special Administrative Region to hold a lecture for BBA students on the law "Prevention and Suppression of Bribery in the Private Sector"
The lecture aimed to raise public awareness of corruption in the private sector and explore effective prevention and mitigation strategies. Ms. Ellie Lou, from the Education and Awareness Division of the Community Relations Department of the Commission Against Corruption, shared various practical case studies, emphasizing the importance of transparency and accountability in preventing corruption.
Ms. Ellie Lou highlighted that corruption in the private sector not only undermines fair market competition but also significantly impacts public trust. To address this issue, the government is actively promoting relevant legislation and policies to establish a fairer and more transparent business environment.
Following the lecture, students engaged in discussions, offering constructive opinions on the topic. Participants generally agreed that enhancing public awareness and strengthening education are crucial in combating corruption.
This event is part of a collaboration between the Commission Against Corruption and the City University of Macau, aimed at promoting the rule of law and social development in Macao through academic exchange and public dialogue. The Integrity and Honesty Lecture series is specifically designed for university students, focusing on the legal framework surrounding "Prevention and Suppression of Bribery in the Private Sector".
