The Faculty of Business (FOB) at City University of Macau invited Ms. Kathy Xie, Project Manager at Oceanpayment, a leading global cross-border payment company in Asia, to deliver a special lecture titled "Cross-border Payments: Trends in Global Online Trade" for MBA and DBA students from October 23rd to 25th.

Financial technology and cross-border e-commerce have emerged as a hotbed of growth and discussion in China's business landscape in 2024. Despite a slowdown in global economic growth, cross-border e-commerce continues to show strong momentum. In today's closely interconnected global economy, cross-border e-commerce is no longer just about selling products; it's about exporting lifestyles, philosophies, and cultures to other nations.

Kathy first introduced the business development of Oceanpayment. As a crucial component of the cross-border payment ecosystem, Oceanpayment has had the privilege of growing alongside numerous cross-border businesses. With direct and profound experience, Oceanpayment has witnessed the various opportunities and challenges Chinese companies face on their journey to globalization, gaining valuable insights and expertise. Despite global market barriers and challenges, Chinese companies must steadfastly advance towards globalization, which not only expands markets but also fosters technological innovation and management upgrades. Emerging markets are becoming new engines of global economic growth, with an increasing number of Chinese enterprises expanding into Southeast Asia, Latin America, the Middle East, and Africa. These regions are experiencing their "China Moment," signifying the growing influence and competitiveness of Chinese companies in these markets. Although the path to globalization is fraught with challenges, Chinese companies face unprecedented development opportunities. By fully leveraging policy dividends and actively exploring emerging markets, Chinese companies are poised to play a more significant role on the global stage.
