On August 5, the Faculty was honored to have a visiting group from China Agricultural University. This talk was delivered by Seah Wei Wei, Senior Lecturer of the Faculty of Business, with the aim of providing the students with a deeper understanding of the City University of Macau and the programmes offered by the Faculty of Business (FOB).
The talk began by introducing the various specializations of the FOB, highlighting the unique features of the faculty's programmes. It also covered the details of the IBC Programmes, allowing the students to gain a deeper understanding of this specialized field. The talk also provided information on the faculty, exchange activities, and future career planning at the FOB. The students actively asked relevant questions, which the lecturer patiently answered.
Since this was the first visit to Macao for the China Agricultural University study tour group, the lecturer also introduced the Macao market, including an analysis of the employment situation and unemployment rate before and after the pandemic. She also highlighted the changes in Macao's gaming industry, prompting the students to ponder Macao's challenges. The lecturer further mentioned that Macao has been facing various challenges and emphasized the need for economic diversification, introducing the "1+4" moderate diversified development strategy for balanced development, helping the students better understand Macao's development direction.
After the talk, Senior Lecturer Seah Wei Wei led the visiting students on a tour of the City University of Macau campus. Under her guidance, the students visited the Ho Yin Conference Centre, the University Gallery, the Library, the Nine Dragon Wall and the Cultural Centre, which are some of the landmark buildings of the University. This tour not only allowed the students to witness firsthand the university's modern facilities and rich historical heritage but also gave them a hands-on experience of the diversity and innovative vitality of campus culture, adding a memorable chapter to their academic journey.
Senior Lecturer Seah Wei Wei then took the students to visit the exhibition hall of the Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) and the Pavilion of China-Portuguese-speaking Countries Commercial and Trade Service Platform. The students were able to experience the unique charm of the Portuguese-speaking countries and gained a deeper understanding of Macao's broad prospects for economic and trade exports.
During the visit, the students witnessed various products and services, including Portuguese fine wines, Brazilian coffee beans, Angolan gemstones, and Macao’s product exports. These displays vividly demonstrated the diversity and vitality of cooperation between Macao and Portuguese-speaking countries. The representative of the IPIM also provided detailed information on the current status of economic and trade cooperation between Macao and the Portuguese-speaking countries. The students actively asked questions and shared their perspectives, engaging in in-depth discussions with the representatives. They expressed a sense of fulfillment from the activity and expressed confidence in the future cooperation between Macao and the Portuguese-speaking countries.
This visit not only enriched the students' professional knowledge but also deepened their understanding of the economic and trade cooperation between Macao and the Portuguese-speaking countries. It also provided valuable insights and inspiration for their future research and career development. In the future, the FOB will continue to strengthen its cooperation and exchange with domestic and foreign universities, research institutions, and enterprises, creating more diverse and higher-quality learning opportunities for students.
