The Springer Workshop was Successfully Hosted on January 24th

The FOB invited Floor Oosting, Editorial Director of Humanities Books, based in Dordrecht, The Netherlands, and Alex Westcott Campbell, Senior Commissioning Editor, Humanities and Social Sciences, from the internationally renowned publisher Springer, to present a fascinating workshop in the afternoon of January 24 at HG01, Ho Yin C C. The aim of the workshop was to explore Springer's book publishing situation, with a spotlight on Hong Kong and Macau.

 

The main speaker Alex Westcott Campbell introduced Springer's book proposal process and discussed in depth the differences between Open Access and non-OA publishing model. She highlighted key considerations for developing the book proposal, and the steps involved in revising the dissertation into a monograph. In addition, Springer's regionally focused series in the humanities and social sciences were also showcased.

 

After the presentations, Floor Oosting and Alex Westcott Campbell held a question-and-answer session with the professors and doctoral students, answering questions about journal publishing and discussing their work. Participants commented that the session would be very helpful to their research and writing in the field of academic publishing.

 

The success of this workshop not only enriches the academic atmosphere of the Faculty of Business and the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, but also helps to enhance the research capabilities and international competitiveness of students and professors.
