Background
The 929 Innovation and Entrepreneurship Challenge between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries (hereinafter referred to as the "929 Challenge") is an international entrepreneurship competition for university students and start-up teams from China and Portuguese-speaking countries. It is hosted by the Permanent Secretariat of the Forum for Economic and Trade Cooperation between China and Portuguese-Speaking Countries (Macau), organized by the Macau-Association for Innovation and Entrepreneurship of China and Portuguese-Speaking Countries, and directed by the Economic and Technology Development Council.
The 929 Challenge aims to play the role of Macau as a gateway to connect business creativity between China and Portuguese-speaking countries, and help Chinese startups and investors access more international business opportunities. At present, the 929 Challenge is the largest innovation and entrepreneurship competition between China and Portuguese-speaking countries, with wide international influence.
The three numbers in the name of the 929 Challenge represent the nine cities of the Greater Bay Area (Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Zhuhai, Foshan, Huizhou, Dongguan, Zhongshan, Jiangmen and Zhaoqing), the two special administrative regions (Hong Kong and Macao), the nine Portuguese-speaking countries (Portugal, Brazil, Angola, Mozambique, Cape Verde, Guinea Bissau, Equatorial Guinea, Timor-Leste, Portugal). Topic for this year
This year's 929 Challenge will continue the theme of the previous two, requiring participating teams to combine their business projects with the two themes of "Connecting China and Portuguese-speaking countries" and "Sustainable Business Models", and present their business plans to investors and judges in six areas: cultural and tourism, health care, financial technology, food and agriculture industry, Marine economy and renewable energy.
