Rector Jun Liu visits Chinese Ambassador Xu Yingzhen and business sector in São Tomé and Príncipe to foster educational and cultural exchanges

During their visit to São Tomé and Príncipe, Rector Jun Liu and his delegation from City University of Macau (CityU) paid a visit to the Chinese Ambassador to São Tomé and Príncipe, Ms. Xu Yingzhen, and received a warm reception. Secretary Zhang Chunming from the embassy and Dean José Alves from the Faculty of Business of CityU also attended the meeting.


Chinese Ambassador Xu Yingzhen warmly welcomed Rector Jun Liu and his delegation and provided an overview of the national development of São Tomé and Príncipe, including its history, economy, education, and social development. Rector Liu Jun introduced the achievements and educational features of CityU and expressed the hope to strengthen cultural exchanges and educational cooperation with Portuguese-speaking countries, including São Tomé and Príncipe. The two sides had in-depth discussions on exchange and cooperation in higher education and talent cultivation, with a shared goal of promoting international cooperation projects and providing more opportunities and platforms for cultivating talent with international perspectives in both places.


During their trip, Rector Jun Liu and his delegation engaged in cultural exchanges with local businesses and institutions, including a visit to the headquarter of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in São Tomé and Príncipe, where they were warmly received by Official Plácida Mota. The two sides had in-depth discussions on local financial support policies and topics related to the sustainable development of the local business environment and education.


On the same day, the CityU delegation visited the National Network of Business Incubators and Accelerators (REINA) and was warmly received by Head Admilton Teixeira. Supported by the “United Nations Development Programme”, the National Network of Business Incubators and Accelerators aims to inspire entrepreneurship and promote the values of openness, inclusivity, and sharing. The two sides held discussions on local innovation and entrepreneurship projects.
