The 2nd 928 Challenge, jointly organised by the Permanent Secretariat of the Forum for Economic and Trade Co-operation between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries (Macao), City University of Macau, and other universities from Macau, China and overseas, has recently completed the registration process. This year’s competition has attracted 249 teams from China and Portuguese-speaking countries with a total of 1256 participants, which received increased registration numbers from Portuguese-speaking countries. It has demonstrated that Macao’s role as the platform between China and Portuguese-speaking countries has been highly regarded with more in-depth exchanges and cooperation between the two sides.
The competition aims to consolidate Macao's role as a platform between China and Portuguese-speaking countries. It builds an entrepreneurial ecosystem that helps students broaden their international horizons, enhance global cooperation, and build a bridge between investors and start-up business talents. This year's competition is designed for universities to set up a university team track, and a start-up track is added to create innovative and sustainable business projects in line with the 17 sustainable development goals of the United Nations.
Currently, the teams had finished a two-week Bootcamp session led by a group of experts. During the lectures, the guest speakers will share knowledge of the business environment, marketing strategies, and business opportunities in China and Portuguese-speaking countries and provide professional advice on business proposals to help participants develop more promising business projects to attract investments. After the training session, the 8 best university teams and 8 best start-ups will be shortlisted for the final.
The final will be held on Saturday, 29 October at World Trade Center Macau, where the 16 best teams shortlisted will present their proposals to the judges. The Challenge consists of three awards with a total of MOP 70000 prizes and a MOP 30000 cloud service prize sponsored by Alibaba Technology.
After the competition, the winning team will have the opportunity to conduct business matching with potential investors to explore forward-looking marketing strategies, prepare the projects to access markets, and realise the entrepreneurial dreams.
