The Faculty of Business of the City University of Macau achieves validation by the Business Graduates Association (BGA)

The Faculty of Business of the City University of Macau has achieved validation from the Business Graduates Association demonstrating its positive impact on students and society, against independent international quality standards.

Launched in January 2019, BGA, which is the sister organisation of the Association of MBAs (AMBA), is the only Business School quality assurance organisation to offer candidate Schools a middle ground between membership and full accreditation.

Validation serves as a measure of progression for Business Schools, as it aims to ensure that the School can demonstrate that it is reputable against independent international quality standards.

To achieve validation, Business Schools are required to demonstrate they are acting in accordance with nine principles set out in the BGA Charter, and have a strategic plan on how they can further improve against each principle.

The Charter principles are as follows:

  1. Meeting demands of the economy, contributing to economic growth and development, and driving social transformation
  2. The principles of CSR, ethics and sustainability (reflecting the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals)
  3. Good governance, institutional sustainability and integrity
  4. Generating value by building tangible connections with other academic institutions
  5. Continuous improvement
  6. Impact, innovation and excellence
  7. The involvement, inclusion and respect of all stakeholders
  8. The principles of equality and diversity
  9. Graduate employability and corporate relations.

To achieve BGA validation, the Faculty of Business of the City University of Macau provided a well-rounded validation submission by demonstrating strong commitment to impact and sustainability through its connections to industry and local governments, an example being, the launch of the Entrepreneurial Education Centre in Zhuhai. As such it is actively evidencing adherence to the principles addressed in the BGA Charter.

Professor José Alves, Dean of Faculty of Business, said: “This BGA recognition sets a milestone in the development of business education at our university and gives us the encouragement and responsibility to remain committed to academic programmes and initiatives that impact Macau and the Greater Bay Area.”

Andrew Main Wilson, Chief Executive of AMBA & BGA, added: ‘'I am delighted to announce that the Faculty of Business of the City University of Macau has achieved BGA validation. It is clear that this School is invested in creating sustainable and international leaders, who have the right interpersonal skills and digital capabilities to thrive and lead in the current and future business climate.’
