The Faculty of Business Advisory Board Holds Its Annual Meeting

On 7th February 2018, the Faculty of Business Advisory Board held its annual meeting. The FOB Advisory Board consists of experts drawn from the financial and cultural industries of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao, including: Dr. Anita F. Y. Leung, Co-Chairman of Huaxia Winco Cultural Assets Group Co., Ltd; Dr. Vincent W. K. Huen, Senior Treasurer of SJM Holdings Ltd.; Dr. Zhixiong Huang, President of Guangdong Macro Co.,Ltd.; Mr. Dave Sun, Senior Vice President of Finance, Finance Department of Sands China Ltd.; and Mr. Hubert Wang, Senior Vice President of Finance & Chief Financial Officer of MGM China Holdings Ltd.

 

Rector Shu Guang Zhang warmly welcomed Advisory Board Members and introduced the core development of the Faculty of Business, the City University of Macau, and the growth of the Asia-Pacific Business Research Centre. He expressed his support for the International Business Cohort and for AMBA accreditation, and appreciated the advice and support he has received from Advisory Board Members. Professor Sean Li, the Registrar of City U, described how City U has earned the University Quality Assurance. It supports positioning university education and talent management and provides more international opportunities to students. Dr. Eva Khong, Executive Associate Dean of the FOB, then reported on recent developments and future expectations. She also invited Advisory Board Members to offer opinions and suggestions for the FOB.

 

The FOB Advisory Board Members supported the development of the FOB and City U. They suggested tying it to various opportunities, such as the Greater Bay Area initiative, One Belt One Road and the Sino-Portuguese platform, and advised the FOB to organise more expert seminars and case studies. In addition, they emphasized the importance of collaboration among different parties, welcoming the establishment of a collaborative relationship between City U and the Chinese University of Hong Kong. In addition, the FOB Advisory Board emphasized that professional knowledge combined with a liberal arts education will help in strengthening students’ whole-person development.

 

As the meeting concluded, Dr. Eva Khong looked forward to collaborating with different enterprises and universities, and expressed great appreciation for all the suggestions and resources provided by the FOB Advisory Board Members. She also highlighted the importance of combining enterprises, education and research in order to strengthen students’ professional knowledge, liberal arts education, and language ability. Last but not least, both the FOB Advisory Board and City U expect to develop more cooperation and communication, with a view to nurturing more future talents.
