Ph.D. students from the Faculty of Business of City University of Macau organized a seminar on the “Greater Bay Area Project” at the Ho Yin Convention Centre of City U, on 14th December 2017. Academic staff members, students and the public were invited to attend this seminar. The Vice Rector Ip Kuai Peng of City U, Prof. Eva Khong, Executive Associate Dean of the Faculty of Business, and Prof. Chao Peng of the Institute for Research on Portuguese-speaking Countries were invited to attend the seminar.

The seminar began with an opening speech by Assistant Rector Ip Kuai Peng. He applauded the way that the students of the Faculty of Business not only follow socio-economic hot issues with deep interest but also make great efforts to pursue academic research on the issues. He hoped the students will regard the seminar as only a beginning and continue to launch assorted academic activities focusing on this area. He also encouraged the Faculty of Business to combine such high-profile issues as the "Belt and Road" and the “Greater Bay Area" in efforts to define the role and dominant position of Macao as the platform for China-Portugal relations.

The 2017 Ph.D. candidates took turns to introduce their research one by one, reporting on work that covers a wide range of topics. Some seek to analyze the Greater Bay Area's macroeconomic situation and characteristics, and others are engaged in forecasting future development trends in the Greater Bay Area. Finally, Prof. Khong and Prof. Chao offered detailed comments and advice on the students' projects, giving high praise to their research achievements and the seminar.
