The Macau China Thinktank for Fintech Industries conducted a highly successful seminar on Entrepreneurship on November 25, 2017 at the Venetian Cotai Expo A. Prof. Rong Yonglin, former Chairman of Tsinghua Tongfang Co., Ltd., and Mr. Dai Guoqiang, Director of China Science and Technology Consulting Institute, were invited as seminar speakers. Mr. Ung Choi Kun, the Vice Chairman of the University Council of City University of Macau, Prof. Kong Fanqing, the Vice Rector of City University of Macau, Dr. Ieong Man Chon, the Executive Chairman of The Macau China Thinktank for FinTech Industries, Lao Wei Ming, the Deputy Director of Macau Economic Services, Lao Pak Seng, the Deputy Director of the Education and Youth Affairs Bureau, Ip Siu Kai, the Deputy Director of the Bank of China Macao Branch, and the IBC students of City University of Macau attended this seminar.
Dr. Ieong Man Chon, Executive Chairman of The Macau China Thinktank for FinTech Industries and one of the organizers' spokespersons, said he was pleased to see more entrepreneurs and innovators in Macao, and was honored to be able to support entrepreneurs. In future, their organization will continue to create a better business environment, provide adequate resources, and hold various seminars to share advanced experiences and insights, so that the concept of entrepreneurship and innovation can take firm root in Macao.
Prof. Rong Yonglin, the first Chairman of seven university - operated enterprises, delivered a speech on "The History of Tsinghua School - The Road from 40 million to 300 billion". He shared these companies’ experiences in production, teaching and research; and also the ups and downs in the history of these enterprises. He used his own story to introduce the current market-oriented development of Macao, the value of new technology, and examples of innovative ideas. He also pointed out the importance of guiding the market with new products and having the foresight to materialize the value of technology.
Mr. Dai Guoqiang, Director of the China Science and Technology Consulting Institute, delivered a speech on "Innovation and Development - Achievements and Trends of China's Incubator in the past 30 years". He analyzed the entrepreneurial situation in Mainland China and Macao, then summarized the inevitable future path of entrepreneurship in Macao, and finally provided detailed answers to the questions raised by live entrepreneurs.
During the seminar entrepreneurs from Massachusetts Institute of Technology were also invited to share their experiences on stage, together with pioneering entrepreneurs from Macao.
The theme of the seminar was announced at the end of the seminar – “Entrepreneurs must not be afraid of failure”. Our students indicated that the seminar had increased their awareness of the inseparable relationship between economic development and new technology.
