On 25th May, Prof. Kong Fanqing, Vice Rector of City University of Macau, and Associate Professor Wu Zefu from the Faculty of Business led 2016 DBA students to attend the Doctoral Forum at Guangzhou Circle. The group also visited Sunten Electric Company and studied the recent development of enterprises in Guangzhou.
The group visited Hongda Xingye. Dr. Zhou Yifeng, Chairman of HDXY, welcomed City U teachers and students and gave them an introduction to HDXY.
Prof. Kong thanked Dr. Zhou for making all the arrangements for this trip and for his support for his alma mater. She was delighted to learn of the excellent progress made by an enterprise established by one of City U’s alumni. Since City U has been established, it has grown rapidly and internationally in terms of teaching, academic accomplishments, and scientific research. Collaboration between City U and the enterprises of its alumni enhances its education platform, facilitating interactions and engagement between business enterprises, the Faculty and the Research Centres. She confidently expected the forthcoming coming cooperation to benefit both parties.
During the Doctoral Forum held at the HDXY office, Dr. Zhou shared insights into the business culture of HDXY and special developments in terms of mergers and acquisitions of companies. He also analyzed the opportunities offered by the Bay Area policy and its potential development. As an FOB alumnus, Dr. Zhou shared his own experience in entrepreneurship as an example to encourage all students. Dr. Wu Zefu then delivered a lecture, based on his professional and academic knowledge of the methodology and capital of mergers. The DBA students learnt a great deal from the Forum and the discussion session immediately afterwards.
Later on, the group visited Sunten Electric Company, where Mr. Liang Tao, Human Resource Director of Sunten, welcomed them and showed them around the factory, familiarizing them with the company's history and corporate structure. They also learned about the manufacturing procedures and progress in all components and transformers. The office held a session for the students, attended by the top management of the enterprise attended, which analyzed the key issues for manufacturing industry and its future development. DBA students were able to hold an intense and in-depth discussion with them of the risks and challenges facing China.
