On 10th May, the Faculty of Business (FOB) organized a seminar with the Monetary Authority of Macao (AMCM), on the topic “Research and Statistics of the Monetary Authority of Macao.” Attending this seminar were Professor Kong Fanqing, Vice Rector of City University of Macau; Dr. Eva Khong, Executive Associate Dean of the FOB; Ms. Helena Leong Man Ngan, Deputy Director of the Research and Statistics Department of the AMCM; Mr. Jay, Pao Wai Chon, Senior Economist; and Mr. Daniel, Chan Chan Pong, Assistant Economist.
The seminar presented research on Macao's economic and financial statistics published by the AMCM. All those students who participated deepened and widened their knowledge of the Authority.
The guest speaker, Mr. Jay Pao Wai Chon, introduced the goals and responsibilities of the AMCM. He also provided numerous examples of research and statistical reports demonstrating Macao’s recent financial development and the AMCM’s research results. Mr. Pao gave a few examples that made comparisons between China’s Mainland, Hong Kong and Macao, thereby succeeding in bringing in the full regional spectrum. Following the seminar, FOB teachers and students discussed in depth Macao’s currency history, the exchange rate between Hong Kong and Macao, Macao’s statistical procedures, and other issues.
FOB teachers and students gained many insights from this seminar, which will greatly benefit their professional development and future academic and scientific research.
