Experiential and Entrepreneurial Practice-based Agreements Signed Between FOB and Alumni Enterprises

On the 19th January, Professor Kong Fanqing, Vice Rector of City University of Macau and Dr. Eva Khong, Executive Associate Dean of Faculty of Business, visited alumni enterprises in Guangzhou. Vice Rector Kong signed four Experiential and Entrepreneurial Practice-based Agreements with Guangdong Elderly-Care Services Association, Topcomm, Guangzhou Shengyuan Information Technology Limited and Shengyimeng Food Mart Limited respectively.

 

The visiting group went to Guangzhou Circle Building, a landmark building in Guangzhou, which was the headquarter of Hongdaxingye Group. Dr. Zhou Yifeng, Chairman of Hongdaxingye was 2006 alumni of the City University of Macau. The company was a well-known large-scale chemical resource industrial group which engaged in plastic chemical production, modern electronic trading market, modern logistics and resource and energy development. The business was extended across China, America, Europe, India and Middle East etc. Dr. Wu Peng, Director of Procurement of Hongdaxingye Group, 2013 DBA alumni welcomed the visiting group and introduced the company latest business development. An agreement of Experiential and Entrepreneurial Practice-based was signed in July last year; several activities such as company visit, seminar and scholarship arrangements were underway since then.

 

Next, a visit was paid to Dr. Yang Bo, Chairman of the Guangdong Elderly-Care Services Association, who was 2012 DBA alumni. The Association was dedicated to promoting the social activities related to old-age care services with the aim of publicizing the regulations and policies of the State and Guangdong Provinces on the old-age service industry. The Association greatly concerned about the issues in the aspect of old-aged care activities, and was cooperated with a number of elderly homes, colleges and companies to provide a variety of home community services. Vice Rector Kong and Dr. Yang agreed to work on several joint projects and an agreement was signed. They mentioned the huge potential market of old-age care services in Macao and believed that the cooperation would popularize the local development. Dr. Yang hosted a lunch for the visiting group thereafter.

 

The next destination was Topcomm, Mr. Alex Chan, one of the Directors of the Board of the company and alumni of 2007 introduced the recent development of the company. Topcomm established branches in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou, offering Integrated Marketing Communication, Marketing, Network Marketing and related businesses. Under "One Road, One Belt" initiatives, the company was planning to grasp the opportunity to extend its business to Macao and Portuguese speaking countries in the future.

 

Guangzhou Shengyuan Information Technology Limited was visited next. Dr. Bai Yu, the Chief Executive Officer of the company and alumni of 2013 delivered a brief introduction of the company. He established his business during his postgraduate studies. He won against thousands of competitors and was granted US$100 by Angel Investor for his business which integrating information technology with tourism business.

 

Shengyimeng Food Mart Limited was the last company to visit. Dr. Li Zhiping, the leader of the company and alumni of 2012, introduced the company products, such as agricultural products (rice, vegetables and fruits), dry food (biscuits and nuts), health products (bird's nests and wolf berries) etc. Those various products were well examined and of high-quality.

 

The  four agreements of Experiential and Entrepreneurial Practice-based were signed with the said alumni enterprises subsequently. Vice Rector articulated that the said agreement would provide a great opportunity for students to integrate learning with practice. Students would be inspired to discover the business opportunities and developments which enable them to widening their perspectives and building up capabilities for future undertaking.

 

The alumni hosted a dinner for Vice Rector Kong and Dr. Khong after the signing ceremony. Dr. Huang Zhi Xiong, Vice Chairman of the Board of Wanjiale attended the dinner right after returning from a business trip. He presented a lot of gifts to sponsor the forthcoming Chinese New Year gathering organized by the university. In addition, 2007 MBA alumni Gao Ci Feng, 2011 MBA alumni Yang Hao Zheng, 2011 DBA candidate Li Ang, 2013 MBA alumni Hai Zhenru and 2014 DBA candidate Jiang Zhanpeng came all the way to attend the dinner and had a joyous evening together.

 

Vice Rector Kong expressed her appreciation to all for their commitment to the university and acknowledged their success in their establishments. She noted that City University was started up with only one faculty decades ago. At the present stage the university consisted of 8 faculties namely Faculty of Business, Faculty of International Tourism and Management, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Faculty of Education, Faculty of Law, Faculty of Urban Management and Studies, School of Continuing Studies and International Open Institute, being one of the four tertiary institutions administering both undergraduate and graduate programs. It was further pointed out that there were approximately 6,000 students and 80% of the faculty teachers contained doctoral degree, and both full time and visiting professor were recruited internationally. The alumni expressed that they concerned with the development of the university and were greatly impressed with the vast development since the university relocated to the present campus in the recent years and they would continue to render their support. Vice Rector Kong conveyed her thankfulness to all for their generous hospitality and Dr. Zhu Yifeng and Dr. Huang Zhi Xiong for their sponsorship. It was hoped that Faculty of Business continued to serve as a platform for further acquaintance between the university students and the alumni. Last but not least, Vice Rector Kong was on behalf of the university wishing all good luck, good health and a prosperous Chinese New Year!
