FOB held seminar on “Emerging Trends in Human Resources Management”

On 25th April 2016 the Faculty of Business of The City University of Macau invited Mr. Danny Au, who possessed ample international management experience in the hospitality industry, to hold the seminar on “Emerging Trends in Human Resources Management” for MBA students in L105, Luso-Chinese Building.

 

First of all, Mr. Au stressed the importance of assembling forecast for the human resources market. He applied the “5 major focus” model to explain the emerging trends of the market in the next 10 to 20 years and provided proactive strategies. According to Mr. Au, a personnel department should be transformed from a departmental role to a “Human Resources Business Partner” in order to provide more comprehensive and supportive functions.

 

In China, personal departments had been confronted with various kinds of challenges including company culture and cultural difference. Issues such as how a personnel department might exert influences in the workplace culture and how they might value add to the overall company culture were addressed in the seminar. In addition, the benefits of teamwork cooperation led by personnel department and the benefits of social capital construction were explored at length in the seminar.

 

Mr. Danny Au, the Managing Director of Duxiana Hotel Development Group (Greater China), has been the Program Manager and Lecturer of Les Roches Jin Jiang International Hotel Management School. Previously, Mr. Au was the Departmental Manager/Director of renowned hotels such as Hong Kong Regent Hotel, Hong Kong InterContinental Hotel, Shanghai Regent Hotel, Dufferin Hotel and General Manager of Paradise Garden and Ruby Tuesday.
