Faculty of Business (FOB) organized a group of twelve MBA students to join the “Central South University Study Group” paying a visit to Central South University (CSU) in Changsha, Hunan from 21st April, 2016 to 26th April, 2016.  The purpose of the visit was to provide an opportunity for FOB students to interact with tertiary institutions as well as gaining exposure to the business and local culture.

 

The visit was exceedingly rich and fruitful. CSU arranged four seminar lectures and workshop for the Group conducted by Professor Yang Fang, Director of the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship Guidance of CSU, and Dr. Wenhui Zhou, Associate Professor of the Business School of CSU. The topics of the lectures were innovation and leadership. In addition to the lectures, students mastered the business operating cycle through business management games.

 

The Group visited several laboratories and research center in CSU. Firstly, they visited the Key Laboratory of Traffic Safety on Track, Ministry of Education at Central South University Railway Campus. Not only did FOB students see the experimental facilities for the study on train collisions, but also got a glimpse of the future models of China's bullet trains. Secondly, they visited the Research Center of Chinese Village Culture, in which historic monuments were shown in three exhibition areas, namely “Sculpture, Woodblock Printing and Cultural Education” area, “Religious Culture” area and “Home Furnishings” area. Thirdly, the students visited the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Practice Base for University Student. Staff member from the Base introduced the innovative exhibits to our students and showed them the office of the China University Student Undertaking-founding Web.

 

The Group visited the First Sunward Intelligent Industrial Park on 25th April. Sunward Intelligent Equipment Group was founded in 1999. Headquartered located in Changsha City, Sunward has gradually grown into an international enterprise that focuses on engineering machinery, owns independent intellectual property and makes global influences, ranking among top 50 global enterprises manufacturing construction machineries and top 20 world enterprises manufacturing excavating machineries. FOB students interacted with the Sunward’s managers and had an in depth discussion on the innovative ideas and rapid development of Sunward. After the meeting, the Group visited Sunward’s manufacture factory and had a closed look at the manufacturing process of excavators.  The Group returned to Macau on 26th April and group members gathered that this was indeed a fruitful trip.
