FOB of CityU held “Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macau Conference on Youth Innovation Entrepreneurship”

On 13th April 2016 the Faculty of Business of City University of Macau presented a seminar on “Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macau Conference on Youth Innovation Entrepreneurship”. Mr. Luo Zejun, Deputy Researcher at Macau Affairs Bureau of Administration Committee of Hengqin New Area and Prof. Qiu Weinian, Vice Dean of Business School at Guangdong University of Foreign Studies were invited as guest speakers at the conference.

 

The first part of the seminar was presented by Mr. Luo Zejun, Deputy Researcher at Macau Affairs Bureau of Administration Committee of Hengqin New Area. He introduced the infrastructure and the rapid development of the Hengqin New Area, and the basic infrastructure and management of the Hengqin Macau Youth Innovation Valley (Innovalley HQ). Innovalley HQ will be sponsored by a fund of 2 billion yuan which aims to promote innovation and entrepreneurship among local youth. Innovalley HQ will also adopt the operation of entrepreneurial incubator chain (seedbed - incubator - accelerator) in order to create an environment of innovation and entrepreneurship.

 

The second part was presented by Prof. Qiu Weinian, Vice Dean of Business School at Guangdong University of Foreign Studies on the topic “Business Model Innovation under the New Economic Normal”. Prof. Qiu analyzed Macau's situation under the “One Belt One Road” policy with data, theory models and case study, emphasizing the importance of business model innovation in Macau.

 

Mr. Luo and Prof. Qiu have discussed more issues on innovation with students during the Q&A session. Prof. Kong Fanqing, Vice Rector of CityU; Dr. Eva Khong, Executive Associate Dean of FOB; FOB’s faculty and students attended the conference.
