To enhance international academic exchange and strengthen high-quality research outputs, the Faculty of Business at the City University of Macau, in collaboration with the Research Management Office, successfully held a special lecture on the morning of October 28, 2025, at Taipa Campus.

The theme of the lecture was “Demonstrating Contributions through Storytelling – From the Editor’s Perspective,” featuring Prof. Cheng Lu Wang, Editor-in-Chief of an SSCI Q1 journal and a professor at the University of New Haven. The event attracted a large number of faculty members, doctoral students, master's students, and undergraduates.

In his opening remarks, Prof. José Alves, Dean of the Faculty of Business, welcomed Prof. Wang and encouraged participants to communicate research with a global outlook. Drawing on extensive editorial and writing experience, Prof. Wang explained the pivotal role of storytelling in academic publishing and shared practical guidance on crafting innovative research narratives. He emphasized the importance of addressing “What’s new / So what / Why it matters” in the abstract and introduction to enhance readability and persuasiveness.

During the subsequent interactive session, faculty and students actively participated in in-depth discussions on topic selection, interdisciplinary collaboration, and submission strategies.

Closing the session, Prof. Jiashun Huang, Associate Dean, provided commentary from both editorial and research-design perspectives. The event was chaired by Assistant Prof. Liangbo Zhang (Marketing), Faculty of Business.
