On February 25, the Faculty of Business welcomed Dr. Michael Segon, Adjunct Associate Professor at the Australian Catholic University and the Central Queensland University, and Principal of the Corporate Ethos Consulting, to deliver an insightful lecture titled “Should an Organisation be Ethical?” specifically designed for BBA students.

During the session, Adjunct Associate Professor Segon highlighted the critical role of corporate ethics in contemporary business practices. He emphasized that as market conditions evolve, companies must build a robust ethical foundation to ensure sustainable growth. Transparency and integrity, he argued, are essential components for achieving business success.

Adjunct Associate Professor Segon also discussed the impact of corporate culture on employee behavior, noting that a strong ethical environment motivates employees to act appropriately, ultimately enhancing overall corporate performance. He encouraged business leaders to model ethical behavior and implement changes that promote an ethical culture within their organizations.

In his lecture, Adjunct Associate Professor Segon introduced key considerations for establishing an ethical framework, such as ethical guidelines, employee training, and reporting mechanisms. He pointed out that these tools not only help prevent unethical conduct but also guide employees through ethical dilemmas.

The lecture stimulated engaging discussions among students, who expressed a keen interest in applying ethical principles in business contexts and actively participated in the Q&A session.

The Faculty of Business remains committed to providing students with further opportunities to explore corporate ethics, to nurture their moral judgment and decision-making skills in the business landscape.
