On April 10th, the FOB is delighted to have the Vice President - Human Resources of Wynn Macau, Stephanie So to have a seminar with our BBA year 2 students. The topic was "Effective Talent Management and Retention Strategies in Integrated Resorts".
In the seminar, Ms. Stephanie So shared the principle understanding of human resources and emphasized that Wynn takes their employees as their very important assets. The labor shortage issue in Macau isn't a new topic, most companies are facing the same challenges same as Wynn or any other integrated resorts in Macau. Different recruitment channels are placed in order to take in new blood to fulfill different vacancies in the hotel.
Employees leaving the company is a common phenomenon, their departure is due to "pull factors" and "push factors". As shared, Wynn Macau has taken different strategies to retain their employees, and they take nurturing their employees as the key component in the company. Some effective initiatives were shared with our students during the seminar, Wynn has developed the "Target Executive Development Programs", and "Succession Planning and Internal Promotion" opportunities; they diversified different job skills and the "Facilities Trainees Program" for internal employees.
During the seminar, Ms. Stephanie shared many successful cases that Wynn has provided to their internal employees' secondment or transferred to another department. Wynn Macau has a well-established career development for their employees. They created different channels for employees to share their expectations by coaching them individually, where a talent pool is developed as one of the talent sources for the Wynn HR recruitment team.
The lecture was wrapped up with our student's Q&A mainly in the aspects of internal transfer questions. It was a great sharing, hope we can have more opportunities to have people from different industries to share their experiences and knowledge.
