On February 20th, FOB has invited Professor Alexander Kocsis as our distinguished guest to visit City University of Macau and has made a public lecture at HG03 in the afternoon. Professor José C. Alves, the Dean of Faculty of Business, Professor Roberts, the IBC Coordinator and professors from Faculty of Business attended the seminar. On behalf of FOB, Dean José C. Alves made the welcome speech and presented the souvenir to the distinguished guest speaker, Professor Kocsis.
Alexander Kocsis is a bilingual (English/French) lawyer and businessman with a focus on finance and corporate matters. He has been described as a master "problem solver" and is able to utilize both legal and business concepts to gain strategic advantage for his clients. His background includes full "profit and loss" responsibility as CEO for a number of large multi-million dollar corporations. He was also a community leader, served as director for several social development agencies, was a member of a large metropolitan police commission, acted as Manitoba’s representative on a Federal committee examining the effects of the R v Andrews Supreme Court case, and was a guest columnist examining political and economic issues for a national indigenous newspaper. Currently he is one of the few foreign lawyers working directly in a top "Tier 1" Chinese law firm. As “Of counsel” for Hylands Law (HaoTianXinHe 浩天信和) he has been able to gain a unique perspective into the Chinese legal system and is often asked to be a commentator about developments within the PRC.
Professor Kocsis introduced the Sino-US relationship by illustrating the different political systems, background and leadership of both countries. He tried to use different perspectives to explain the international trade war, or say, the Sino-US trade war, and brought assumption and discussion with the students about the influences of the trade war.
