On Nov 22, FOB invited Mr. Matthew Hosford, chief banking expert of the International Finance Corporation, to attend a seminar with the IBC students. Professor Priscilla Roberts, IBC Coordinator, Professor Zhu Jiawei, MBA Coordinator, and professors from FOB attended the seminar. On behalf of the City University of Macau, Professor Roberts presented a souvenir to Mr. Matthew Hosford.
Matthew Hosford joined IFC in October 2017 and advises investment teams throughout Asia. From 2007 to 2017, he was the Chief Risk Officer in the Asia-Pacific region and helped the Group set up operations in the region, including representing the Group on two boards of directors in China. Mr. Hosford spoke on the topic of “Today’s Global Economy: The US-China Dance and The Trade War.” He analysed economic developments in current Sino-US relation, as well as the Trade Wars. Mr. Hosford first introduced and compared conditions in both China and the United States. He then analyzed the respective economic situations of both the US and China, their existing problems, and their impact on the world economy.
Many students asked questions and discussed issues with Mr. Hosford in at the end of the seminar, which both teachers and students found interesting and informative.
