The Bank of China Macao Branch and the Faculty of Business of City University of Macau conducted a seminar on “Development Trend of Internet Finance” on 10th October. Mr. Yu Jian, General Manager of the E-Finance Department of the Bank of China Macau Branch, was invited as the guest speaker. Academic staff members, professors, students and the public were invited to attend this seminar. The Dean of Faculty of Business, Dr. José C. Alves and Dr. Eva Khong, Vice Dean of Faculty of Finance, were invited to attend the seminar. Of behalf of City U, Dr. José C. Alves presented a souvenir to Mr. Yu Jian.
Mr. Yu firstly brought out the challenges of the bank industry in the words of Mr. Ma Yun – “If the Bank doesn’t change, we’ll change the bank”. Comparing the traditional transactions, people prefer the more convenient, efficient paying method such as WeChat and Alipay. Therefore, the world’s banking industry are facing the common dilemma. Mr. Yu introduced several strategies like network intelligent strategy, customer experience and mobile priority strategy to complete the transformation of bank. Moreover, in order to achieve various optimizing strategies, Mr. Yu mentioned about the financial data is the most important key to compete in the era of digitalization nowadays. At the end of the seminar, Mr. Yu also explained the enlightenment and opportunities of Macau’s local banking industry in transformation.
The mutual interchanges following the speeches were a highlight of the seminar. Students took the initiative in raising questions and praised the Seminar as remarkable and they had learnt a lot from Mr. Yu.
