The 3rd “Bank of China Forum” Seminar – “Smarten up Our Future with Data-Challenges and Opportunities of New Fintech for the Financial Industry” Takes Place Successfully at City University of Macau

On 1st March, the “Bank of China Forum” jointly organized by Bank of China (Macau Branch) and Faculty of Business of City University of Macau, held its third seminar: “Smarten up Our Future with Data-Challenges and Opportunities of New Fintech for the Financial Industry,” in Theatre HG02 of the City U Ho Yin Convention Centre. Vice Rector Kong Fanqing, Dr. Eva Khong, Executive Associate Dean of the Faculty of Business, Mr. Yu Jian, General Manager of the Information Technology Department of the Bank of China (Macau Branch), Ms. Chen Fen, Director of the Personal Banking Department, Ms. Mona Ho, Assistant Manager and Mr. Alan Cheang, Relationship Manager, attended this event.

 

Mr. Yu Jian delivered an address on “Smarten up Our Future with Data-Challenges and Opportunities of New Fintech for the Financial Industry.” On behalf of City U, Vice Rector Kong presented a souvenir to Mr. Yu.

 

Mr. Yu Jian explored the hot topic of “big data” against the background of recent mobile internet developments.  He explained how the banking industry employs these new technological capabilities and tools in Policy-making Management, Precision Marketing and Risk Management. He also described recent banking industry developments, including Wisdom Investment Consulting, the Wisdom Bank, Mobile Finance, Block Chain and others. Meeting the future challenges facing the banking industry and maximizing the contributions of Fintech to international financial organizations both offer Macao a vista of exciting opportunities, that may be key to opening a new era for the Macao financial industry.

 

This seminar attracted numerous FOB teachers and students as participants, and concluded with intense discussions. Those attending showed keen interest in Mr. Yu Jian's speech and eagerly raised questions about the challenges that the rapid development of new technology offer to bank employees, the future operational model of the banking industry, the non-materialization and digitization of money, security, and other issues.
