The 2nd Seminar of “Bank of China Forum” – ‘RMB Exchange Rate Development’ Held at City University

“Bank of China Forum” jointly organized by Bank of China (Macau Branch) and Faculty of Business of City University of Macau, held the second seminar ‘RMB Exchange Rate Development’ at HG02, Ho Yin Convention Centre of City U on 23rd November. Mr. Peng Zhige, Director of Private Banking Department of Bank of China, was invited as guest speaker. Academic staff members, students and the public were invited to attend the said seminar. Ms. Chen Fen, the Director of Banking Business Management Department, Ms. Choi Ieng Chi, the Deputy Director of Personal Banking Department and Dr. Eva Khong, the Executive Associate Dean of Faculty of Business were invited to attend the seminar. Dr. Khong on behalf of City U presented a souvenir to Mr. Peng Zhige.

 

Mr. Peng Zhige remarked that RMB was included in SDR basket as a fifth currency starting from 1st of October. He analyzed the reason of RMB fell to six-year lowest against USD and delivered an in-depth investigation on RMB international development through the fields of capital account liberalization and floating exchange rate, transnational financing disorderly flow and international financial risk. Mr. Peng combined data analysis and tendency predictions to discuss on the domestic monetary policy, international political situation and global financial market and in addition, the impact on RMB exchange rate.

 

This seminar attracted keen interest from both FOB teachers and students, who actively raised questions about the future perspectives regarding the relationship between RMB and MOP as well as international monetary policies.

 

The third seminar of this forum invited Mr. Yu Jian, the General Manager of Information and Technology Department of Bank of China, to discuss “Challenges and Application of New Techniques in Financial Market”. Details will be posted in FOB website: https://fob.cityu.edu.mo/home.
