Student Message - Social Responsibility

Q: Where did your journey in public service begin?
A: My journey in public service began in 2014. Amidst the vast, sandy landscape of Alxa, I personally planted saxaul trees, experiencing firsthand the resilience of life in extreme environments. At that time, public service for me was “responsibility,” a pure commitment to the land.

Q: What transformation did this journey—from Alxa to the Chinese Academy of Sciences—bring to you?
A: Later, driven by a reverence for life, I entered the laboratory. My time conducting species identification research at the Chinese Academy of Sciences and participating in wetland surveys of Lake Taihu transformed me from an emotional rescuer into a rational thinker. I deeply realized that sustainable development is not just a slogan; it requires scientific rigor and institutional support.

Q: What specific sustainable actions have you taken over the years?
A: Protecting wildlife habitats, refusing to confine marine life, and providing long-term care for stray cats—these persistent actions are my most direct embodiment of the social responsibility of “sustainable development.”

Q: How did this decade-long commitment to public service evolve after you entered the Faculty of Business?
A: Looking back on these more than ten years of public service, these scattered fragments finally coalesced into a clear aspiration when I entered the Faculty of Business. I began to realize that the environmental protection and public service I am passionate about are undergoing a profound transformation in modern business civilization.

Q: How do you view the relationship between business and public welfare?
A: I don’t want business to be merely a game of profit; I aspire to use the wisdom of business to empower the ecosystem, transforming concern for life into measurable social value. This is not only my expectation for future academic and practical endeavors, but also the inevitable choice after years of accumulated experience in public service—to make business more humane, and to ensure that a sustainable future is not only anticipated but also quantifiable and achievable.

Q: If you were to use one sentence as a footnote to your public service journey, what would it be?
A: From protecting a single tree to building a symbiotic blueprint, I am on the path to connecting business and the future.
