On April 14, Dr. Haoyu Liu, the Operations Management course instructor, held an educational game class for International Business Cohort students.

In the class, Dr. Liu departed from the traditional teaching approach that teachers convey concepts and knowledge to their students through lecturing. He integrated information into well-designed games. Students explored what they should learn through the game processes and applied what they had learned to complete tasks.

The Sailboat Game they played is popular in process design and analysis, and it has been successfully implemented in top-tier institutions such as Yale. In the Sailboat Game, students played different roles, such as suppliers, companies, and consumers. During several rounds of the game, they communicated and accumulated experience. Then they could optimize the production process and promote product quality.

In a learning-by-doing manner, Dr. Liu intrigued the interest of students. Students' learning of textbook theories was enormously enhanced, and their problem-solving ability in real business was immensely improved.
