FOB held a Seminar on “English Language Skills: Your Key to Global Thinking”

An English seminar of “English Language Skills: Your Key to Global Thinking” was held on 16th November by Faculty of Business at HG02, Ho Yin Convention Centre. Mr. Horace Ho, an expertise in human capital management, was invited as guest speaker.

 

Mr. Ho holds an Honors Bachelor of Science degree in Physics and Mathematics and a Master of Science degree in Computer Science both from University of London, England. Mr. Horace Ho was also a former CHRO (Chief Human Resources Officer) of two multinational companies where he respectively held the positions of group Senior Vice President, Global Human Resources (at Johnson Electric Group in Hong Kong) and group Executive Vice President, Human Resources (at Finning International Inc. in Canada). His corporate responsibilities spanned Canada, United States, United Kingdom, Western Europe, South America and Asia.

 

Issues on the English skills and global thinking were discussed as well as concerns on the essence of mastering English Language skills to develop global thinking and international exposure. Students were encouraged to read more on international news to broaden their understanding of the world at large, to foster global thinking in order to value add oneself to enhance competency. He stated that English is one of the popular languages to connect oneself as well as to keep in pace with the world. He was sharing his extensive international work experience with students and emphasized the inference as well as the impact the language of English which imposed on our work and social life.

 

As recap from the students, this seminar provided relevant information on mastering English skills as well as ways and means to develop global thinking which serves as a good reference to their career building and development.
