Asia-Pacific Business Research Centre Unveiling Ceremony Successfully Held, with Financial Seminar on the Topic of "One Belt, One Road"

On 22nd February, Rector Shu Guang Zhang, City U Board member Mr. Su Lone Kyan and Faculty of Business Executive Associate Dean Dr. Eva Khong officiated at the unveiling ceremony of the Asia-Pacific Business Research Centre, which took place at the Ho Yin Convention Centre on the Taipa Campus. Mr. Lei Jun, Assistant Manager of the Strategic Research & Brand Management Division of the Executive Office of the Bank of China (Macao Branch), delivered a seminar address on “Develop Financial Leasing and Integrate into 'One Belt, One Road'”.

                                              

Professor Kong Fanqing, Vice Rector of City U, Mr. Wicky K.H.So, Director of the Administrative Division, and Mr. Jason K.P. Kuok, the Finance Director, attended the Opening Ceremony. Ms. Chen Fen, the Director of the Bank of China’s Banking Business Management Department, and Mr. Alan Cheang, the Relationship Manager of the Integrated Marketing Division of the Personal Banking Department, also participated in this event. Four members of the Faculty of Business Advisory Board, Dr. Vincent W. K. Huen, Senior Treasurer of SJM Holdings Limited, Mr. Kam Lun Chan, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (Macau) Limited, Mr. Kim Peng Chan, Vice President of the Tai Fung Bank, and Mr. Mu Xu, General Manager of HQFI Innovalley Incubator Management Co., Ltd., were invited to attend the Opening Ceremony of the Asia-Pacific Business Research Centre.

 

The Asia-Pacific Business Research Centre is a research-based academic unit allied with the Faculty of Business of the City University of Macau. It is established both to facilitate faculty research and to provide a platform for research interactions between academic staff members and students from the Faculty. The Centre has been successfully established with full support from City U, to meet the expectations of society that it will cooperate closely with business to promote social development. The Centre will seek to focus and promote research activities relevant to Financial Research, Research on Business in the Asia-Pacific Region, Entrepreneurship and Innovation Research and Business Case Studies in Banking. It will also investigate Macao’s individual path to financial development. The Centre will cooperate with other financial and accounting organizations in developing scientific research, and to establish internships and an employment base for City U students.

 

After the Ceremony, Rector Zhang presented those board members attending with their Faculty of Business Advisory Board Letters of Appointment. It is hoped that this marks the beginning of a productive and lasting relationship between the FOB and all members of the Advisory Board. Last but not least, Mr. Lei Jun provided his professional opinions on Macao’s pathway to develop its financial capabilities as part of China’s global cooperation policy of “One Belt, One Road”. Mr. Lei analyzed the advantages, modes and supports required, providing valuable guidance to both business members and students. Teachers and students raised many questions with him, actively exchanging ideas on Macao’s developmental directions and prospects.
