On Wednesday, July 23, 2025, the Faculty of Business at the City University of Macau successfully hosted a distinguished academic lecture titled "The Art of Academic Publishing: From Manuscript Crafting to Navigating Peer Review" at the Exhibition Hall of the Cultural Centre.
The event was honored to welcome Professor Ayşegül Özsomer, Professor of Marketing at Koç University and Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of International Marketing. Her keynote attracted wide participation from faculty members and DBA students who were eager to gain deeper insights into academic publishing at the international level.
In her two-hour lecture, Professor Özsomer emphasized the three core pillars of successful journal submissions: Methodological Rigor, Topic Relevance, and Scholarly Impact. She urged scholars to craft their papers with clarity and purpose, ensuring their contributions are explicitly stated in both the introduction and conclusion. “Don’t just do research—solve real problems,” she noted, encouraging participants to engage with meaningful questions that matter to both scholars and practitioners.
The session concluded with a vibrant and highly interactive Q&A, where faculty and doctoral students posed thoughtful questions about theoretical framing, designing persuasive research, and navigating the reviewer response process. Professor Özsomer responded with practical advice and candid reflections, offering a rare window into how editors evaluate submissions.
