On April 17, 2025, the Faculty of Business successfully organized an "International Chess Exchange Activity" at the Cultural Centre Exhibition Hall, attracting numerous faculty and students. The event aimed to promote cultural exchange through intellectual competition, enhance students' logical thinking and problem-solving skills, and provide an interactive learning platform for chess enthusiasts on campus. Not only did the event spark students' interest in chess, but it also fostered communication and collaboration across different grade levels.

The event began with an opening speech by Professor José C. Alves, Dean of the Faculty of Business, who emphasized the importance of chess in cultivating strategic thinking. Subsequently, Professor José Paulo Afonso Esperança, Associate Dean, gave an engaging presentation on the history of chess, its basic rules, and its development in Macao. Glagolev Artem Nikolaevich, President of the International Chess Club, then analyzed game strategies and practical techniques through live demonstrations, offering valuable insights to all attendees.

The highlight of the event was the interactive chess matches. Participants sat face-to-face, strategizing on the board—sometimes calmly planning their moves, other times skillfully attacking and defending—creating a lively yet focused atmosphere. Through hands-on experience, students not only deepened their understanding of chess but also appreciated the unique appeal of intellectual competition.

Moving forward, the Faculty of Business will continue to organize chess-related events to promote intellectual sports on campus further and provide more diverse learning and exchange opportunities for faculty and students. This event marked the beginning of a series of activities, and we look forward to working together to write new chapters in cultural exchange.
