The launch of the second edition of the 928 Startup Challenge

The second edition of the 928 Startup Challenge competition was officially launched yesterday at a press conference at Forum Macau. The competition this year is co-organised by Forum Macau, City University of Macau, University of Macau, Macau University of Science and Technology, University of Saint Joseph, Macau Institute for Tourism Studies, and United Nations University Institute in Macau, as well as other universities in Mainland China, including Shenzhen University, Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, Guangdong Polytechnic Normal University, and the Rio de Janeiro State University from Brazil.

The representatives of the Macau co-organisers gave comments about the importance of the competition as a mechanism to enhance entrepreneurship between China and Portuguese speaking countries: Paulo Jorge do Espírito Santo (Forum Macau), Jose Alves (CityUM), Jerome Yen (UMAC), Jacky So (MUST), Alexandre Lobo (USJ), Max Zhao (IFT), and Serge Stinckwich (UNU).

 

In addition to the university teams, this year the competition will also have a new category for startups. The goal of the 928 Challenge this year is to double the participation to 1,600 participants and 100 teams, and ultimately have a more substantial contribution to the Macau platform. The final event is tentatively scheduled for late October 2022 at Forum Macau.
